The Wayfarer's Chapel — Rancho Palos Verdes, CA | Judy + Mike
This wedding on the coast of southern California was simply stunning from beginning to end. Because Judy and Mike are a very private couple both in real life and on social media, I'm going to focus on the venues they chose to celebrate their big day! Before heading to their ceremony, Judy and Mike spent a weekend of pampering at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, which is where I met up with them to photograph some private moments with family getting ready in their suite, and where we had their first look overlooking the ocean. It was an incredible view, but was just the first one of the day because shortly we were whisked away in Mike's new Porsche to the Wayfarer's Chapel for their intimate ceremony with a small guest list of family and friends.
Also known as "The Glass Church," The Wayfarer's Chapel is an almost entirely transparent structure built in the late 1940s by Lloyd Wright, son of famed architect and designer Frank Lloyd Wright. Its organic lines and open-air design perched on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean allow nature to be the true sacred space for its daily services and special gatherings (including multiple weddings per day on weekends!). Judy and Mike were the last couple of that September day, so we got to celebrate in the final rays of golden hour after they said "I do."
