James Irvine Japanese Garden — Los Angeles, CA | Ashley + Jason
Ashley and Jason had both decided they'd never get married, that it just wasn't for them. Practical, career-oriented, pragmatic…they never counted on meeting each other and falling in love. But that's exactly what happened on their first date in Little Tokyo; they each knew they'd found somebody special. From dancing in the middle of the street that first night in downtown to Jason's romantic proposal in Hawaii, their love story has been a true partnership and romance that defied everything they thought they knew about love and marriage.
When they decided to tie the knot last year, they started looking for venues around Los Angeles and found the gardens and Noguchi Plaza at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center. It was in the heart of Little Tokyo just blocks from where they danced in the street on their first date four years ago, and they knew it was the perfect spot to say 'I do.' Their vows were a sweet reminder that years of loving someone means years of growing together, watching your relationship evolve, and maybe even changing your opinion on marriage itself.
